On a recent return to my childhood home in Costa Rica, I brought a suitcase filled with fans instead of the usual sweets or clothes. Once unnecessary in the cool mountain air, fans are now essential against the relentless heat. The piece was inspired not only by this shifting climate but also by the loss of a dear friend.
Destination TBD, this installation born from that memory, was accepted into Heat, a nationally juried exhibition on climate change, where it received an Award in Excellence.
